Summer will soon be here and, for me, that means bartending down at the shore, beach days, and making the most of the fleeting sunny days with the people I love! For these reasons, it’s my absolute favorite time of the year. Also, two words: summertime cocktails! It’s the season when drinks become fruity, flavorful, and delicious. I am about to share with you some of the best cocktails for this year’s hot days. They are relatively easy to make and all you need are fresh ingredients. So blast your iTunes, grab your best pals, and relax on the sunny back deck with one of these summertime sips in hand!
A quick suggestion for those who love beer like me: you MUST try Blue Moon’s seasonal First Peach! Amazing!
Frozen Mango Piña Colada
4 oz mango rum
2 oz spiced rum
½ oz Malibu Rum
8 oz Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut
5 oz Dole Pineapple Juice
3 oz mango nectar
Garnish: Coconut flakes and mango slices
Glass: Hurricane glass
Mix it up!
Combine the rums, cream of coconut, pineapple juice, and mango nectar in a regular-sized blender. Blend on low for about a minute. After a minute, add ice and blend on high. Dip the hurricane glass onto a plate with lime juice and then rim the glass with coconut flakes. Pour your frozen rum combo into the glass and garnish with a fresh slice of mango! Yum!
1½ oz silver tequila
½ oz triple sec
½ oz watermelon flavored schnapps
¼ ounce of fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons sugar
Garnish: Lime and watermelon wedges
Glass: Mason jar
Mix it up!
Rub a lime wedge on the rim of the mason jar and then dip the jar into a plate of sugar. Add ice if desired and set the jar aside. In a shaker, vigorously shake tequila, triple sec, watermelon schnapps, and fresh lime juice. After thoroughly shaken, pour your mix into the sugared-rim mason jar. Garnish with a lime wedge and a watermelon wedge. Want to make an impression? Replace the watermelon wedge with a watermelon ball on a toothpick for that upscale cocktail flare.
