February: it’s a month usually filled with cute teddy bears, chocolates, and other generic gifts and cards. The reason for this lovey-dovey tradition is obviously Valentine’s Day (although if the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow and winter ends early, that’s the REAL reason to show love in February… but I digress.)
As our readers know, here at Vicissitude, we are all about change – and sometimes, change is not welcome. But that doesn’t bother us. We don’t roll with the norm, but instead we create different paths. So this Valentine’s Day, we’re challenging everyone to do something different. Something daring. We dare everyone to channel their inner Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, and embark on some S&M.
S&M, which stands for sadomasochism, is defined as “the derivation of sexual pleasure from the infliction or physical or mental pain either on others or on oneself.”
But we think S&M could be so much more than that. S&M doesn’t just have to be about submission and domination (although we won’t take that part of it out because, well, what fun would it be then?!) S&M, in our mind, stands for Sexy and Masterful: taking control of your own body and the body of your partner, and not considering any social mores, thus becoming, indeed, a Master of your own world.
Like anything else, if you’re going to be good at something, one of the main components is dressing the part. You already know how much fun it is to play dress-up in the bedroom for a typical sexual escapade; imagine how exciting it will be for a Sexy and Masterful night of sensual activity!
S&M has its very own world and fashion-forward trends. Sexy lingerie is of course included, and the styles vary depending on whether you’re the deliverer or the receiver of the spankings. The leather styles are gritty and help the wearer get into the bold character to play their ‘role.’ The lace lingerie would be similar to its non-S&M counterparts (charming and sweet), except for the tweaks, such as the open buttock area – making for easy spanking access – or the choker.
